Just a short one…

Tuesday, September 26th, 2006

Was in the midst of doing my German homework, then suddenly feel like "snaking" for a while, hahaha…
Attended 2 birthday parties last Saturday. Vik’s grandma turned 80 and SooLing turned 30. Luckily both of them are staying nearby, else I will have problem attending the parties… Had a wonderful time mingling with so many Germans, hahaha… thank God my German has improved a lot, I didn’t really speak with all of them in German but at least I can understand almost 80% of all conversations already, hehehe… hard work…
Going to move into our new appartment this Friday, been busy with Vik looking for furniture and packing stuff at home… The only bad news is I won’t have broadband access for some time, starting next week till… no idea when… hopefully won’t be more than 2 weeks, else I will suffer a lot man…
K la, to all my friends out there, miss you all very much! Muaks! :p

First Day, Last Day

Friday, September 15th, 2006

Yay! Today is Vik’s first working day, and also the last day of my German (1B) course.
Vik was so excited this morning, can’t wait to go to work, hahaha… Tonight he will come back driving a BMW 1 series (thanks to
Hyperion Solutions Corporation, we don’t have to spend money buying a car anymore). I believe this car is going to make our lives much easier (house-moving, shopping for groceries, travelling, etc… :p)
Then few hours ago I had a wonderful time with my classmates. Since it was the last class, my lovely teacher brought us to visit the Public Library in Darmstadt. On the way walking to the library, so many pedestrians looked at us like we were a bunch of "international sakai" who had just came out of the jungle, hahaha…in fact I think we looked like little chickies following the mother chicken… Anyway, I will see all of them again next week, as the German 2A level starts on Monday.
Life is getting more and more challenging here. Other than learning German, I am also acquiring knowledge about the demographics, geography, culture and sometimes even the politics of those in my class. Being the only Chinese (as the Chinaman has left the course 2 weeks ago) who is a Malaysian in the class, sometimes I am required to answer questions not only about Malaysia, but also about China! Yet the good thing about this is, they understand clearly now I am not a Malay! :p
Oh and not to forget, I am very free today as I don’t have homework for today and over the weekend, yay!

My 26th Birthday!

Thursday, September 7th, 2006

Hmmm… haven’t been blogging for quite some time already. Was rather busy lately, with language course, homework, household chores etc… been reading a lot though, and that makes my favourite book now German-English Dictionary (I need it EVERYDAY!)
Then yesterday was my birthday! It was a very special day for me, not only because it was my birthday, but it was also the day Vik submitted his thesis! Double happiness for us both. Then yesterday was also the first time I celebrated birthday with Vik. Last year I was in Malaysia and the year before I was in Australia, and Vik was in Germany. It was kind of funny for me, because when we finally got to celebrate my birthday together, I am already his wife, and that was also my first birthday in Germany. I don’t know exactly how to describe the feeling I had, it was a mixture of happy, surprised, lonely, thankful and sorry. Happy because of all the wishes I received, surprised because my classmates sang me a German birthday song, lonely because none of my family nor friends back home were here to be with me, thankful because the girl next door was not at home 2 days, and sorry because I didn’t get to chat with friends back home on msn when they wish me happy birthday.
Special thanks to Vik, my lovely husband. 2 hours before 12 midnight, he forced me to stay in the toilet (for almost 5 mins) in order to set up the table and stuff, haha… very sweet of him. Birthday_006
He got me a cake secretly, and my favourite alcoholic drinks - Baileys! It was just the two of us, he sang me a birthday song, we had some sparkling wine and then we watched a movie together. Have to sleep early because I have to wake up early for school the next day. Then after school Vik picked me up, we went to Subway for lunch, then went shopping for my birthday present. Vik got me a leather jacket, hehehe… we wanted to buy a bag, but I didn’t see anything I like. Then we went to Mischa and Matthias, had pizza for dinner. Thanks to my mum, she left me a birthday song message on the phone, and then my "another mum" called, hahaha… I was so nervous talking to her on the phone, luckily I managed to understand everything and it was so nice of her to kept asking me what I need etc… Vik’s sister and I are going to shop together when we meet, so that she can buy me a present and I can get her one as well, since her birthday is today. Then we went out for a movie at the open air cinema nearby, not a good movie so we came back to watch another movie at home, hahaha…
So that was it, a simple yet meaningful birthday. I am glad that I could spent it with the person I love (miss my family and friends back home though). Rebecca is now 26 years old, yay!!! :p
