Documenta 12

Saturday, July 28th, 2007

I have no idea what Documenta was until last Saturday. Wait, I don’t think that is what I really mean. Let me rephrase myself. After last Saturday, I still don’t quite understand what Documenta is! All I can say is, this so called "the most important exhibition of contemporary art" made me felt so confused, as I really do not know how to appreciate the art pieces I have seen there. Take a look at some examples which I have taken pictures of and then please do leave your comment ok? I need to know if I am the only artless person here, or the world of art is just going too far… Want to know more, check out here - Documenta 12.

This one is ok, looks quite artistic…

Cimg7078

Wooden chairs… ok still acceptable…

Cimg7081

Some kind of wall… special…

Cimg7087

If you look properly, you will recognise that these are made of some plastic containers…

Cimg7097

The person who drew this might have OCD (obsessed with cars?)…

Cimg7099

I didn’t know broken ‘eggs’ are cool nowadays…

Cimg7110

Read properly, did you see the word ‘URINE’? Gosh…

Cimg7113

Mischa, bored by the exhibition; I was totally confused… Vik, holding the camera, thought he could be artistic too…  :p

Cimg7105

My mouth dropped open when I saw this one…

Cimg7106

My mouth dropped open again… Mischa told me to close it, because this is ART.

Cimg7108

Cimg7124

By the time I saw these, my mouth did not drop anymore, it was numb…

Cimg7128

Those are real humans, they were ‘performing’ art, or they were part of the art…

Cimg7130

These two, are definitely NOT like those above… they tried too hard…

Cimg7154

The art of football?

Cimg7146

Vik was seriously trying to figure out what was he looking at…

Cimg7089

The only object which I personally like… after seeing so many others…

Ok, I have many more pictures from the exhibition, but I guess I won’t put them all up here. I was deeply disappointed as I did not find the 1001 Chinese who flew from China to Kassel for the purpose of this exhibition… But I did had lots of fun with Vik and Mischa that day, so the 18 Euros ticket is worth the money, I think. That’s all I have to say about Documenta, if you would like to visit this exhibition, do it this year or wait for another 5 years!

Just Be (Happy)

It’s 8:45 am, I just kissed Vik goodbye few minutes ago, he is going to work now. We had breakfast together before that, he was still yawning as he drank his coffee. I love this guy, he is always so funny. Sitting in front my desk, suddenly I feel the urge of blogging.
A bit of update about my life here. After working for one and a half months, I’ve left the company. My last day there was 6th July, ever since than I have been meeting up with friends, chatting and surfing online and traveling around with Vik. Many of my friends back home asked me why did I resign, as getting a job in Germany is not really an easy matter, especially for a foreigner like me. Well, the truth is, if they (some of my colleagues) would have treated me better, friendlier or talk less ‘bullshit’ about Asia and so on, I might stay till August. I do not want to go into the details of what happened there, but in short I can say that my time there made me felt like a Bangladeshi working in Malaysia (or even worse), if you know what I mean. But it does not mean that all Germans are bad, some of my friends here who work in McD and Burger King do have nice colleagues.
Saying farewell to the hectic work and study life, I am now back to the peaceful and serenity life of a housewife again. In fact I recognised few days ago that I appreciate my time at home more now, as compared to the time before. I’ve learned to plan my day, read books, polish up my English and German, and stay in contact with friends here. Will meet up with Farisa (from Iran) and Farid (from India) tomorrow, we want to go back to our language school and claim back our exam fees. On Saturday, Mischa, Vik and I will be going to Kassel, to visit the modern and contemporary art exhibition - Documenta. 1001 Chinese flew from China for the purpose of this exhibition, must be very ‘interesting’ I think. Then on Sunday Vik and I will drive to Munich together, will stay there for 6 days. After that I will be flying to UK to meet up with some friends, and spending the money I earned before, hehehehe… am really looking forward to this trip!
By the way, last Friday was my first wedding anniversary. Vik and I went back to Sonderborg, Denmark, the place where we registered our marriage. We spent a very nice day together, remembering all the sweet memories we shared together, from the time in Australia until now. I am really grateful to have such a nice husband, what else do I want more? Perhaps my life will be perfect if I could get a proper job here, but wait, a perfect life? Does it exist? :p
Life goes on, and I am still one of the happiest persons in the world! It is just a matter of perception, you can be one too if you want. :) Hugs!

Samantha (a Malaysian) visited me in Darmstadt, it was nice to meet up with her again.

Cimg7047
